Postdoctoral researcher in high-pressure mineralogy

Applications are invited for postdoctoral researcher positions in high-pressure mineralogy in the Bayerisches Geoinstitut at the University of Bayreuth. These posts are part of the ERC Advanced grant: Chemistry and transport properties of bridgmanite controlling lower-mantle dynamics (UltraLVP). Successful applicants will conduct multi-anvil experiments to investigate chemistry, diffusivity and grain-growth kinetics of bridgmanite under mid-mantle conditions. They will also develop high-pressure and high-temperature generation techniques using multi-anvil apparatus with carbide and/or sintered-diamond anvils. These posts are full time, fixed term for 24 months with possible extensions up to 60 months in total. The positions will start on 1st October 2018; or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant area (e.g. Earth Science or Material Science) or near completion as well as experience in multi-anvil experiments.

Complete applications will consist of a single PDF file with a cover letter, CV, publication list, description of research achievement and contact information for three references. Please send the application to Tomo Katsura (tomo.katsura@uni-bayreuth.de) with “Postdoctoral Researcher Position UltraLVP” as the subject. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled.

Informal inquiries should be directed to Tomo Katsura (tomo.katsura@uni-bayreuth.de).
